Cookies Policy
_Last updated: 2026-10-21_
This policy lists the cookies used by Tubindex and explains how to grant, refuse, or change your consent.
1. What is a cookie?
A cookie is a small text file placed on your device (computer, smartphone, tablet) by the browser when you visit a website. It enables the website to recognise you on subsequent visits, remember your preferences, or measure audience.
In this policy, "cookie" also refers, by extension, to similar technologies that may be used (browser local storage, pixels, etc.).
2. Categories of cookies used
We distinguish two categories of cookies:
2.1 Strictly necessary cookies
Indispensable to the operation of the Service. They are placed without prior consent as their sole purpose is to enable electronic communication or to provide a service expressly requested by you (Article 5(3) of the ePrivacy Directive, Article 82 of the French Data Protection Act for French users).
2.2 Analytics cookies
Placed only after we collect your explicit consent through the information banner displayed on your first visit. You may withdraw this consent at any time (see Section 4).
3. Full cookies inventory
| Name | Purpose | Duration | Category |
|---|---|---|---|
connect.sid | Keeps you signed in (authenticated session) | Expires after 30 days without activity, and in any case 90 days after sign-in | Necessary |
__Host-tbx_mld | Recognises the device that requested a sign-in link, set when you make that request | 30 minutes, deleted after sign-in | Necessary |
__Host-tbx_kd | Recognises a device on which you have already signed in, to protect your access when a third party floods the service with sign-in requests. It does not contain your email address in clear and cannot sign you in on its own. | 90 days, renewed at each sign-in | Necessary |
tubindex_consent | Storage of your cookie consent choice | 1 year | Necessary |
tubindex_ui_language | Storage of your UI language preference | 1 year | Necessary |
ph_* (PostHog) | Product analytics (anonymised usage events) | 1 year | Analytics (consent) |
The ph_* cookies are placed by PostHog EU Cloud, our analytics provider, hosted in the European Union (Frankfurt). No directly identifying personal data (email, notes, summaries) is transmitted to PostHog.
3.1 Browser storage for the offline mode
The offline mode also uses browser storage on your device. This storage is strictly necessary for the offline feature that you use, so it is used without prior consent. It does no tracking, and its content is never sent to a third party.
| Name | Purpose | Duration | Category |
|---|---|---|---|
tubindex-shell-* (service worker cache) | Copy of the app files (code, styles, page shell), so that the app opens offline | Replaced at each app update | Necessary |
tubindex-thumbs-v1 (service worker cache) | Copy of the thumbnails of your most recent videos, so that they show offline | Deleted when the video leaves the offline window, and on sign-out | Necessary |
tubindex-fonts-v1 (service worker cache) | Copy of the fonts of the app, so that the text keeps its look offline. It holds no personal data | Kept until you clear the storage of your browser | Necessary |
tubindex-offline (IndexedDB) | Copy of your lists (video titles, channels, summaries, your notes), profile of the last signed-in account, and actions taken offline waiting to be sent | At most 7 days for the lists and the waiting actions, deleted on sign-out | Necessary |
Section 2.8 of our Privacy Policy describes this data and when it is deleted.
4. Managing your preferences
4.1 Consent banner
On your first visit, a banner allows you to accept or refuse analytics cookies. Your choice is stored in the tubindex_consent cookie for one year.
You may change or withdraw your choice at any time, as easily as you gave it, directly from the "Manage cookies" panel below:
Manage cookies
Analytics cookies: Not yet chosen
4.2 Browser settings
You can also configure your browser to block or delete cookies. Steps vary by browser:
- Google Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies;
- Mozilla Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and site data;
- Safari: Preferences → Privacy;
- Microsoft Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions.
5. Consequences of refusal
- Strictly necessary cookies: blocking them prevents the Service from working correctly (authentication, language preference, consent storage). The Service may become unusable.
- Analytics cookies: refusing them has no impact on the operation of the Service. You access all features normally.
We do not use "cookie walls": access to the Service is never conditional on accepting analytics cookies.
6. Changes
We may amend this policy to reflect changes in our tooling or in applicable regulations. Any material change (notably the addition of a new cookie or a new purpose) will trigger the consent banner to be re-displayed so that you can express a fresh choice.
7. Contact
Any question regarding cookies may be sent to: support@tubindex.com.
